Grant on an inscribed typed note (with Grant's letterhead), tipped-in on the front free endsheet. Heber J. Grant became Church President on November 23, 1918. He then went on to dedicate three new temples, develop the Welfare Program, and aid the Latter-day Saints with dealing with the tragedy of World War II. In addition, Grant's business experience helped him to modernize Church organizations and procedures, and his missionary efforts, including extensive speaking engagements and friendships with national business leaders, gave the Church greater recognition in the United States.
