A very handsome copy of the 1819 2nd London edition, bound in a full, contemporary-to-the-period, polished blue calf, with gilt floral and geometric rolls, gilt turn-ins and renewed marbled endpapers and pastedowns. The rebacked spine, in 6 ridged and gilt-bordered compartments, boasts bright gilt-tooling and lettering and red and brown title and author labels. Tight, well-preserved and solidly VG+, with very light rubbing at the extremities, light scuffing to the panels and marginal, very light staining along a number of the upper gutters.
