The dustwrapper has old kraft paper reinforcements to verso; recto shows light rubbing and wear at folds and extremities, bit of soil to lighter portions; Very Good. Little-known (and apparently little-read) British social novel, chronicling a working-class carpenter's rise to prosperity. Southwold/Bell is best remembered as a prolific science fiction writer, especially for his "Gas War" series (1930-31).
