The instrument depicted is possibly an E-flat tenor horn rather than a tuba. A young girl carries a very large beer stein in the foreground. Legrand , a contemporary of both Toulouse Lautrec and Félicien Rops, is known for his etchings depicting Parisian life, particularly dancers.
