Pisa: Lischi & Figli, 1935. Color pictorial wraps. Very Good. 12mo. 19 by 13 cm. 12 pp. History and description of Medieval martial game, a contest between two neighborhoods of Pisa over control of a bridge. An antediluvian "war game", as such. The publication in the mid-thirties can be seen as a projection of Fascist ideals, which glorified violence and embraced militarism. The same publisher came out with a longer book the same year by Virgilio Salvestrini. This, probably an abridgement, imparts enough to quench most reader's curiosity. The longer book is uncommon, and this brochure, especially so, with only two copies of the brochure located on OCLC (in Florence and Strasbourg). Age toning of the leaves.
