- Toronto: General Films Limited, 1954
Toronto: General Films Limited, 1954. Softcover. Very Good. Quarter. Prong bound quarter canvas and printed oak tag wrappers. [8]pp. of Legion of Decency ratings, followed by [548]pp. (274 leaves printed both sides) of flyers or advertisements for individual films. A few stains on the wrappers, very good; internally one page is detached, trimmed, and written on, else fine.
A catalog from a Canadian film distributor intended for movie theater operators, advertising nearly 500 films that were available for lease, including a modest number of serials or short films. While some of the flyers advertise a single film on both sides, a large majority advertise different films on each side of the flyer. The vast majority of the films on offer here where released in 1953 and 1954, with a small number of earlier re-releases, and perhaps a handful that were produced later. There are perhaps two or three duplicates. The flyers are printed on different color paper and occasionally printed in two or more colors. The films represent a wide landscape of cinema of the time, ranging from blockbusters to long forgotten fluff, screwball comedies (many starring Martin and Lewis or Laurel and Hardy), westerns and hardboiled film noire. A large number of flyers meant for theater owners and an important resource.
