Latvia, 1979. Hardcover. Very Good. Oblong folio measuring 16" x 11.5". Screwbound blue cloth over stiff paper boards. Contains 73 black and white silver gelatin photographs measuring between 3" x 5" and 8" x 10" with captions in Latvian. Very good album with near fine contents.
A large photo album dated 1979 used to house what appears to be a history project based on the life and career of Vladimir Lenin with typed captions in Latvian. The photos seem to have been reproduction and enlargement prints possibly from a government library detailing Lenin's life from his youth through both wars. There are portraits of Lenin, candids, event photos, and images from events and rallies. In the late 1970s Latvia was still The Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic, a Soviet Puppet State, and wouldn't be an independent republic until 1991. This project clearly comes from the state sanctioned school curriculum with a focus of Communist leaders from Russia.
