The author's second novel, set in the community of American expatriates in Buenos Aires, where (per the jacket blurb) she had "made her home for many years" (and where part of her first novel, "The Restless" (1946), also took place). Although she continued to contribute short fiction to various magazines, she published no more books prior to her death from cancer in 1957, at the age of 42. (A posthumous collection of her stories, with the ironic title "A Little More Time," was published in 1960.) .
