By Beswick, Eardley
London/Toronto: William Heinemann Ltd.. Fair. 1936. First Edition. Hardcover. (no dust jacket) [solid reading copy, but that's about it: worn/bumped at top and bottom corners (boards exposed), several deteriorated spots on spine cloth, etc.] INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the half-title page: "To 'Fraulein' / at Black [Torkey?] / from / Eardley Beswick / Xmas '38." Novel set in and around Lancashire, England, with the action taking place before, during and after World War I. It's in rough enough condition that I probably wouldn't offer it for sale but for the authorial inscription -- I mean, it just might be the only extant Eardley Beswick signature! Signed by Author .
