Two octavo volumes; publisher's gilt-lettered brown cloth boards; xvi,604 + 692pp. Moderate external rubbing and wear, with thin splits to cloth at uppper and lower joints; spines a shade faded and cloth frayed at spine ends; internally clean, tight and unmarked but for early owner's engraved bookplate (Rev. Geo. Wolff) and pencil signature to front pastedown of each volume. Contemporary Philadelphia bookseller's ticket (Daniels & Smith's) inside front cover of volume 1. The first edition was 1842. Trollope (b. 1798) appears to have emigrated to Australia in 1849. He was an uncle of novelist Anthony Trollope.
