Some minor nicks and chips to frame, gilding slightly dulled, otherwise fine. $1,500. * Smith [1846-1881] was a lawyer who served as Deputy Attorney General for the State of Pennsylvania. This portrait belonged to the Philadelphia Bar Association. Founded in 1802, it is the oldest association of lawyers in the United States. Its library, where this portrait was last displayed, was renamed the Theodore F. Jenkins Memorial Law Library in 1967.
