By Andre Frenaud
Paris: Librairie Gallimard, 1947. Original wraps. Near Fine/Near Fine. Jacques Villon. INSCRIBED IN PENCIL BY JACQUES VILLON on the half-title. A superb copy to boot of the 1947 1st edition. #168 of 190 copies issued "sur velin de pur fil, a la forme, des papeteries du marais". Clean and Near Fine to Fine in its printed beige wrappers. And in a crisp, exceptionally well-preserved, Near Fine to Fine example of the glassine dustjacket. Quarto, loose signatures (as issued) laid-in. 6 lovely Jacques Villon watercolors-- all with their accompanying tissue-guards and all beautifully reproduced-- complememt the Andre Frenaud text. Also includes a very impressive, easily Near Fine example of the publisher's printed chemise, which no doubt accounts for the wonderful condition of the book.
