Very good. 379pp. Vigesimoquarto (24mo) [11.5 cm] Full leather with embossed decorative circular and diamond patterns to the boards and backstrip, and the title in gilt on the backstrip (gilt a bit faded). Red speckled edges. Yellow coated endpapers. Moderate rubbing to the extremities; corners gently bumped; short splits in the boards at the ends of the joints; small cracks in the endpapers along the hinges. Despite the moderate wear, this hymnal is quite attractive, and is free of any markings. "The 1854 hymnal is essentially a line-for-line reprint of the 1851 edition, but without the asterisks of that edition, and with many changes in punctuation and the elimination of many contractions." —Peter Crawley
