Though the boards show a bit of age/wear, the textblock is extremely nice and both the fold-out elements (advert for Bailey & Noyes Booksellers and map) are in Fine condition. Map ("Plan of Portland - 1863") is particularly lovely, being in "blueprint" style with streets and, most interestingly, the various piers in the harbour all identified. Overall, a handsome copy. Light shelf/edge wear, two small pinholes at front hinge, several small moisture stains at front board, very minor foxing at preliminaries, minor age toning at text block edges, small moisture stain at top edge at rear, else tight, bright and unmarred. Green cloth boards, gilt lettering, in blind decorative elements, advert. endpages, tipped in ad, fold-out map. 12mo. 324pp. Illus. (b/w plates).
