Mournful Seashell 16mo Lace Paper Valentine

England, 1860. Very good. Minor spotting.. A melancholy 16mo valentine, questioning a lover's intentions: "You scarce afforded one kind parting word, But went away so cold, the kiss you gave me Seemed the forced compliment of sated love". Printed the middle of a finely produced lace paper with depictions of sea shells in each of the corners. The valentine is finished with two embossed, die-cut pieces of scrap, and pieces of colored paper adhered below to shine through the lace paper. Measures approx. 2.75" by 3.75
