TURNER AND RUSKIN; AN EXPOSITION OF THE WORK OF TURNER FROM THE WRITINGS OF RUSKIN (2 Volumes)

  • Hard Cover
  • London: George Allen, 1900
By [John Ruskin] | Edited with Biographical Notes by Frederick Wedmore
London: George Allen, 1900. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good binding. Two hefty quarto volumes, in the publisher's blue cloth, with titling in gilt. There is scattered foxing throughout, though the plates are mostly clean; they are protected with tissue guards. Each volume has been partially rebacked, with discreet japanese tissue repair to the spines; there is old tape reinforcement to the hinges; the endpapers have darkened; on the pastedowns is the bookplate of American art critic Carleton Noyes. While the bindings have some minor wear and soiling, this is a sturdy and serviceable set. Good binding.
