Heidelberg: Mohr und Winter, 1819. Zweite verbesserte Auflage [Second Edition]. Half Leather. Very Good binding. A book on logic, by German idealist philosopher, Jakob Friedrich Fries. One of the main works by the philosopher; Fries is nowadays overshadowed by his contemporary and rival Hegel, and his connection with the anti-Semitism of the day have done him few favors. Nonetheless, this is regardless an important view into the ideas of German post-Kantian philosophy. Early owner's name in ink on the front endpaper, and a previous owner's blindstamp. Text is reasonably bright, with very scattered foxing. Rubbing to the paper boards, surface loss to the leather binding, spine is vertically cracked with some loss, and repair to the spine and joints by a conservator using Japanese leather. Half leather over paper boards. Very Good binding.
