Colorado, 1921. Softcover. Very Good. Oblong quarto measuring 11" x 7". String-tied black cloth over stiff paper boards with "photographs" stamped in gilt on the front board. Contains 246 sepia-toned or gelatin silver photographs measuring between 2" x 3" and 5" x 7" with captions. Very good album with chips and tears with very good or better photographs.

A photo album compiled by a woman in the early 1920s depicting trips taken to a lodge in Colorado as well as other travels between 1921 and 1923. A majority of the images are from the Buckhorn Lodge in Colorado in the summer of 1921. Images from this trip show women posed in the fields around the lodge and the landscape of the area including mountains in the distance. Women are seen posed in their bathing costumes and by the river nearby. Other guests are pictures and the staff of the lodge including a woman captioned “the post mistress.” At the lodge they enjoyed hiking, climbing trees, swimming, boating, and taking drives around the area. Additionally included are hand-colored postcards of the lodge. Other images show family on Easter Sunday, Navy friends of the compiler, and women cuddling new babies. The last few pages are taken at a touring Wild West Show with Native Americans on horseback and carnival games.

An extensive collection of a woman’s travel photography in Colorado in the 1920s.
