[PETERSBURG; MOVIE THEATER] 78 GLASS ADVERTISING SLIDES

A treasure trove of 78 glass advertising slides for use in a Petersburg movie theater in the 1920's or 1930's. These would have been flashed up on the screen before and after the movie, and perhaps during the movie when the reels were being changed. They are rather crudely handpainted and lettered, adding to their local charms. "Tony's" on Sycamore Street "Known coast to coast for our home cooked and delicious meals"; "Bob White Ice Cream"; "Mann's Bread Served Exclusively at our Eating Booth" -- these are but a few of the many Petersburg businesses whose flickering names often with a painted image appeared on a Petersburg movie screen.
