Blue cloth with black- and gilt-stamped lettering and ornamentation. Boards worn with some good bumping to corners, chipping at head of spine, and some splitting to cloth along spine edges. Vertical tear down length of half title, missing previous owner's bookplate attached at top, with separated portion laid in. Pages 179-182 cleanly separated by laid in, with no apparent missing pages after. Newspaper clippings neatly attached to front pastedown, with gift inscription opposite on front free endpaper. Another lengthy pencil writeup on verso of front free endpaper explaining how the previous owner's family [presumed] knew the grandfather and family of the authors.

Collection of short stories by two Welsh sisters. A contemporary review in the Hereford Times writes that the book is so "full of pathos and admirable sentiment that it is difficult to realize that they are after all only fiction. For a companion on a railway journey we commend the book heartily.
