Author and illustrator Edward Ardizzone began his Tim series in 1935 with this volume, completely redesigned and redrawn for this 1955 second edition. Little Tim is a boy who wants to be a sailor. So badly, in fact, that he stows away on a steamer setting out on a long sea voyage. Tim gets a taste of real sailing life when he is discovered by the crew, but has he bitten off more than he can chew?
