By [John Williams]
Denver: University of Denver, 1949. Very Good. Denver: University of Denver, 1949. Quarto; 352pp. Photographic boards with cream cloth spine and blue embossed lettering to spine. Corners bumped and spine a bit rolled, with some light smudging to back. Opens easily and lies flat, but binding is sound. Pages unmarked.

Graduation year of John Williams, author of the novels Butcher's Crossing, Stoner, and Augustus. Williams received a B.A. (1949) and an M.A. (1950) from Denver, leaving to pursue a Ph.D. in English at the University of Missouri before returning to Denver as a professor in 1955, where he taught for the next 30 years. His novel Stoner, a cult classic of the academic/campus novel genre, was published in 1965.

Williams appears once in the yearbook on p. 222 in a photo of the editors of Foothills, the university's undergraduate literary magazine. Williams later ran Denver's creative writing program and was founding editor of The University of Denver Quarterly, now The Denver Quarterly, which remains a well-respected literary journal.
