San Francisco: Straight Arrow Press, 1968. Original wraps. Near Fine. A clean, well-preserved example of this very uncommon early issue, issue #5, with 2 rows of Jim Morrison photos (taken by Baron Wolman) serving as bookends on the front cover. Evenly folded for shipping purposes but, happily, no shipping label. A bright, crisp copy, legitimately approaching Near Fine. The front cover boasts articles titled: "Pigpen to Meet Pope?", "Beatles Zap USA Ltd", "Monterey Film Bummer" and "Doors Up for Movie". (The first 10 issues of Rolling Stone, all published within the first half-year of the magazine's November 9th, 1967 debut, are notoriously scarce, especially in such sharp condition).
