The Floating Bear: A Newletter (Issue #9)

The 1961 issue #9 (one of the most important --and least common-- issues) of "The Floating Bear", Diane Di Prima's and LeRoi Jones's first-rate poetry newsletter and mimeo issued out of New York's Lower East Side (at 309 East Houston Street). Crisp and VG to VG+ in its stapled wrappers, with one small closed tear along the staple at the upper left corner of the front panel, otherwise clean as could be. Most notable about this issue is its 2 principal contributions, the original excerpts from LeRoi Jones' "The System of Dante's Hell/The Eighth Ditch" and William Burroughs' "Roosevelt After the Inauguration". (Both proved to be enduring literary works and both are appearing here for the very first time). And bringing up the rear is an experimental Philip Whalen dialogue.
