[PHOTOGRAPH; BLANDFORD; PETERSBURG] CANADA VOLUNTEERS. WAR OF 1812

By Gertrude Duncan Dinwiddie
An original photograph, c. 1920 [?] of the monument [the "Cockade Monument"] to the Petersburg Canada Volunteers om the War with Great Britain in the year 1812. Under the command of Gen. Harrison the volunteers defeated the enemy at the Battle of Fort Meigs in May, 1813 "and won for their home "the exalted and imperishable appellation of the Cockade City of the Union." The 10 x 7" photograph is undated but we hazard a guess it was taken in the 1920's. Pencilled on the back is "taken by Gertrude Duncan Dinwiddie". Mrs. Dinwiddie was born 1864 and died in 1952.
