Journal of the Identical Lunch
- Original wraps
- San Francisco: Nova Broadcast Press, 1971
San Francisco: Nova Broadcast Press, 1971. Original wraps. Very Good +. The uncommon 1971 1st edition of this wild artist's book by Fluxus pioneer Alison Knowles, who chronicled her experience eating the exact same lunch ("tunafish sandwich on wheat toast with lettuce and butter, no mayo and large glass of buttermilk or a cup of soup") at the same diner in New York ("Riss Restaurant") almost every day --at the exact same time-- for years. Often she ate with friends, while doggedly sticking to her routine, whose original idea she attributed to the composer Phillip Corner. Tight and VG+ in its fragile pictorial wrappers. Light rubbing to the panels. very clean internally. With contributions by John Giorno, Dick Higgins (founder of "Somethig Else Press", to whom Alison Knowles was married at the time) and Phillip Corner, among others. 12mo, notes, letters, receipts and black-and-white photos complementing the text. And with a section at the rear advertisting a number of recent titles (all uniformly fascinating) published by Nova Broadcast Press of San Francisco.
