Boston, Kentucky, 1900. Hardcover. Very Good. Oblong quarto measuring 11" x 8". String-tied marble paper boards. Contains 95 sepia-toned or black and white silver gelatin photographs and 2 cyanotypes. Photographs measuring between 1" x 1" and 8" x 10" with some captions. Very good album with worn edges and chips with near fine photographs with slight wear.

A photo album compiled by a New England Victorian-era family. The photographs show the family having parties, traveling, and spending time at the beach. One section of images shows family and friends making faces and silly poses for the camera. A large group photo shows the family in costume with a caption in the negative reading “photo by Roy.” Other photos show Boston Commons, King’s Chapel, and Longfellow’s house. They pose in a horse drawn carriage, on bicycles, and in fields and lakes nearby. A photo of a group of women shows them holding rifles and laughing in a field. They often dress in costumes such as one photo that shows a group of women in 1700s dresses and wigs. One of these shows the group with faces through newspapers, another shows them in a bed in pajamas.

A nice collection of amateur photography following a New England family at the turn of the century.
