Welwyn Garden City (U.K.): The Alcuin Press. Very Good+. [1962]. Spiral bound. [modest external wear, front-cover laminate just starting to left at one corner]. (B&W photographs) Spiral-bound promotional book, designed to promote British films for the Continental marketplace. Each of the three dozen films highlighted is given a double-page spread, with credits, photos, and a brief synopsis in English, beneath which are short blurbs about the film in French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Included are a few bona fide classics -- A TASTE OF HONEY (Tony Richardson), ONLY TWO CAN PLAY (Sidney Gilliat, starring Peter Sellers), THE LONELINESS OF THE LONG DISTANCE RUNNER (Richardson) and THE INNOCENTS (Jack Clayton) -- along with quite a lot of forgettable (and forgotten) fare such as PETTICOAT PIRATES and WHAT A WHOPPER. (The last and least of the Hope-Crosby "Road" pictures, THE ROAD TO HONG KONG, is here too.) Also included are lists of: trade organizations; member companies of the British Film Producers Assocation and the Federation of British Film Makers; film distributors; and British film studios, .
