Photo Album. Near Fine. A fascinating photo album put together by the teenage daughter of Westinghouse research engineer William Lilliendahl, whose pioneering work in uranium distilling played a very important role in the development of the Manhattan Project and ultimately the Atom Bomb. A number of original photos, citations and articles give testimony to Liiliendahl's groundbreaking research, all lovingly compiled and captioned by his daughter Joyce (and her mother). Roughly 30 loose pages, housed in an old-fashioned 3 ring binder made of light-blue cloth. Several examples of captions: on one page, it states "Bill wrote the article on 'Thorium' in the Encyclopedia Britannica" and on the facing page the caption reads: "During World War II, Joyce's father (above) invented at the Bloomfield Westinghouse plant a method of removing the impurities from uranium, a discovery which made possible the Manhattan Project experiments leading to the invention of atomic fission.
