Very loosely based on the 1950 nonfiction book "The Story of Zarak Khan" by A.J. Bevans, about an outlaw fighting against British occupation in 19th century Afghanistan, pursued by a British officer, with whom he develops a mutual respect.

Set on the border between Afghanistan and India, shot on location in England, Morocco, India, and Burma.
