By Eyles, Allen, and Keith Skone
Sutton (U.K.): Premier Bioscope. Very Good+. 1984. First Edition. Stapled wraps. [a bit of wear along spine, light bumping to fore-corners]. (B&W photographs, line drawings, area map) "This survey includes all the West End public cinemas past the novelty stage of the early years of the [20th] century (Hale's Tours of the World shops, etc.) and features theatres and music halls permanently converted to films." Contains mini-histories of over 100 movie houses, listed chronologically by their opening dates; grouped alphabetically under town names; iIllustrated with numerous photographs. (There is a more up-to-date version of this book, issued in 2014, which is available from other sellers; if you care deeply about post-1985 cinemas, or wish to indulge yourselves in the depressing chronicle of those that were demolished during the same period, then by all means buy that one. I won't judge you.) .
