Very good with address stamp on front wrap and creasing at the edges and some interior pages. *The Gay Alternative* was a literary magazine published in Philadelphia from 1972-1976, which began as a newsletter of the Gay Activists Alliance of Philadelphia. This early issue includes a recap of the 1973 Philadelphia Gay Pride Day, an article about feminist activist Jan Welch, an interview with pro-gay Metropolitan Community Church founder Troy Perry, an announcement of the opening of Giovanni's Room bookstore (now the longest continuously owned gay bookstore in American), and an article about being a lesbian in Philadelphia.
