Watercolor & Razor Cut Work with Harp and Floral Array - Remember the Giver L.C. K. 1835

1835. Letter folds. Come separation at folds.. A 6" x 5 1/2" heavy card applied to the front a larger blue lettersheet. The finely decorated card depicts two detailed vignettes - One with a harp, violets, forget-me-nots and fern, the other an array of roses, pansies, forget-me-nots and more. The rose array is at the center razor cut laurel wreath with razor cut border decorations depicting sprays of grass or grain with a hashed razor design surrounding the entire border. The letter within is to dear Margaret who had requested the sender to paint a memento of friendship followed by lovely thoughts on the Beauty of mind and grace of a person. Addressed to Miss Margaret Williams on reverse. Letter sheet measures 10" x 8". Cutwork measures 6" x 5 1/2" The cutwork was most likely affixed to the letter at a later date to keep the two pieces together subsequent to Margaret completing the work.
