Eine Nacht in Venedig, to a libretto by Zell and Genée after E. Cormon and M. Carré's Le château Trompette, was first performed in Berlin at the Friedrich-Wilhelmstädtisches on 3 October 1883 and in Vienna at the Theater an der Wien on 9 October 1883.
