A previous owner has written "Mil" on the front endpaper. The first blank leaf has an inscription from the translator, Francis Egerton Ellesmere: "The Lady Selina Meade | from the Translator".~~Hacklander was a kind of jack of all trades -- military and literature included. Among other things he became a war correspondent in Italy, which resulted in this book. Good binding.
