1930. Corner chips and bends.. A 17 1/2" x 10" heavy card stock poster The title reads Come Hear Mattie Crawford - The great woman preacher tell the story of Jesus in simplicity and power. This is followed by a somewhat ethereal appearing image from a photograph of Crawford in a white dress holding a Bible and pointing towards the heaven. The caption at base reads "Bring the Sick". The revival events were being held twice daily for 17 days at the Exposition Bldg. Portland (ME). The reverse is blank. Often controversial. |Born in Oklahoma in abt. 1904. Raised Catholic, she testifies of her own gradual healing and conversion after beginning to attend Protestant church revivals. An early believer in Trinitarian and Oneness, Assemblies of God she was a significant early Pentecostal leaders such along with Aimee Semple McPherson, the Crabtree family, and others.
In her 20s she resided at the Southern California Bible College under the direction of Rex M. Baxter. Subsequently

She was a nationally-acclaimed evangelist who preached the Oneness of the Godhead and the infilling of the Holy Ghost. Her meetings were accompanied by regular reports of miraculous healing. Later went on to Bible Philosophies and Health, still in the mass gathering format. She would also host women only events.
