Ethiopia: International News Photos, Inc, 1935. Unbound. Near Fine. Black and white gelatin silver photograph measuring 6.5" x 8.5". Near fine with some creasing. A press photo titled "Wounded Troops Treated at Dessye." The photo is from the Second Italo-Ethiopian War which took place between October 1935 to February 1937, Ethiopians refer to it simply as the "Italian Invasion." A printed caption tipped on the photo edge reads, "Dessye, Ethiopia...members of the Ethiopian Red Cross shown aiding wounded members of Haile Selassie's army at Dessye. The troops were then removed to the Red Cross and the American Seventh Day Adventist Hospitals. Later bombed by Italian airplanes." According to historian, Robert Leckie, "It is seen as an example of the expansionist policy that characterized the Axis powers and the ineffectiveness of the League of Nations before the outbreak of the Second World War.
