A Phoenix Too Frequent (EB White's Heavily-Annotated, Personal Copy)
- Cloth
- London: Oxford University Press, 1953
London: Oxford University Press, 1953. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. EB White's heavily annotated copy of Christopher Fry's "A Phoenix Too Frequent". White's initials (in bold ink) at the top of the dustjacket's front panel and also his full name written at the top of the front pastedown. The book is heavily underlined, with margin notes thruout (in ink and pencil) in EB White's hand. And more notes spill onto the verso of the rear free endpaper. Based on the extent of the marginalia, it's clear this copy was read carefully and loved by the author of "Charlotte's Web" and "Stuart Little". 1953 sixth impression. VG in a bright, price-clipped, VG dustjacket, with light loss and discrete tape along the spine. 12mo, 43 pgs.
