By Anne Tyler
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1964. Good/Very Good. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1964. Stated First Edition. Octavo; [vi], 265pp. Printed gray and orange dust jacket with $4.95 price and 10/64 code intact; book in gray paper-covered boards with black cloth spine and gilt lettering. Jacket chipped at spine ends, with a few smaller tears along edges and some creasing down front spine fold. Tape repairs to interior. Boards faded along edges and tugged at head of spine, with a few stray smudges. Spine a bit cocked. Abrasions to front endpapers from removed bookplates -- possibly a library card pocket, though the book lacks any other library stamps or markings to suggest a former institutional life. Toning to pastedowns. Binding is generally shaken and opens easily between gatherings, but is holding. Scattered foxing and a couple dog-eared pages, else interior clean and unmarked.

Author's first novel.
