1929. Very good.. Collection of photographs documenting several summers at Girl Scout Camp Cardinal and Camp Tall Trees in the late 1920s. Campers and counselors alike are shown here in uniform, in costume, and dressed for sport. The careful captions identify each person by name or nickname ("Captain Betty") and include dates and often places. Among the photos are a snapshot of two Scouts posing in a romantic embrace for "Stunt Nite," a precarious gymnastics pyramid, archery practice, and a joint GSA/BSA march for Armistice Day. A warm and intimate record of youthful recreation immediately preceding the Great Depression. 7'' x 10'' (album), 3.5'' x 2.5'' (photos). Ribbon-tied oblong photo album. Brown embossed gilt-stamped card covers, lightly chipped with a few small tears and creases, front joint split but holding. Contains 10 black construction-paper leaves with 64 photos mounted recto and verso; captions inked in white in a contemporary hand. Corner torn off one leaf. Touches of wear to a few photos, else sharp.
