Despite the railroad’s name, it did not serve the Yosemite Valley, but ended at the park’s boundary due to the fact that construction of railroads is prohibited in National Parks. Passengers would disembark for the park at El Portal, and take a stage coach, and later, in 1913, a motor coach, to Yosemite Valley
