This beautiful 18th century engraving depicts the nest of a Great Red Woodpecker, with six eggs nestled in a tree stump.

Adam Ludwig Wirsing (1733-1797) was a German engraver and publisher based in Nuremberg. In very good condition. Full original margins. Wirsing created the work after Barbara Dietzsch to appear as watercolors. Barbara Regina Dietzsch (1706 - 1783) was a Bavarian painter and engraver known for her still life paintings.
