A noted German historian, geographer, and economist, "The versatile Peters also worked on improving musical notation and in 1984 presented his new color notation at the Mozarteum in Salzburg (Peters notation). In it he applied the spatial representation of time developed for his "Synchronous Optical World History" to the communication of the duration of the sound. In 1985 he published his theoretical foundation for the new notation ("The scale representation of the tone duration as the basis for octave-analog color notation"; Academic Publishing House, Vaduz) and a piano primer for the color piano ("For Majenna").
