The first Russian translation of popular English nursery rhymes that Marshak discovered in London. Apparently he was also familiar with Randolph Caldencott's The Three Jovial Huntsmen that he included in the collection as "3 zverolovy." The art, content and treatment remains more Russian than British. This copy has a good deal of edge repair at extremities with archival tape supporting several corners and margins. Hand soiling, and nicks. Bonhams sold a similar repaired copy in 2013 for $2500.00 [American Book Prices Current].
