Two small quarto volumes; in 3/4 crimson morocco, with double gilt rules at the edges, over marbled boards with matching marbled endpapers; lxiii, followed by XXIV leaves of printed plates of monograms; [1], 2-501 pages; [503], 504-1150 pages; the joints, especially the front joint of Volume I, are a bit tender; handsomely bound with raised bands, decorative gilt rules in compartments and lettered in gilt; Volume I has a small patch to the top of the spine; the pages of both Volumes are mostly unopened.~~Of printed in the 19th century, this Fine Arts reference book, was compiled by Shearjashup Spooner (for that was indeed his name and is it any wonder that he styled himself S. Spooner?) who was an American physician and writer; he became a dentist in New York and penned several treatises on dentistry, in addition to this popular Fine Arts history. Good binding.
