Life for Life's Sake. A Book of Reminiscences

  • New York: Viking Press, 1941
By ALDINGTON, Richard
New York: Viking Press, 1941. First Edition. First printing. Octavo (22cm). Red cloth-covered boards, titled in gilt on spine; dustjacket; 411pp. Straight and tight, with some darkening to endpapers and foxing to text block edges; Very Good. In the original pictorial dustjacket, unclipped (priced $3.00), slightly worn and soiled with a closed tear at upper margin of front panel; Very Good.

Aldington's literary autobiography; there was no British edition until 1968. Especially valuable for his discussion of Pound, Amy Lowell, and the origins of Imagism. Though issued by a mainstream publisher, Life for Life's Sake is one of those unaccountably uncommon books of the Wartime era, not frequently seen in dustwrapper.
