1920. Photograph. Very Good +. A striking, early hand-colored photographic print (circa 1920s) of 3-time American welterweight boxing champion Jack Britton (1885-1962). In fact, the first 3-time welterweight champion in history. The print measures 14" x 18": and is framed in a period gilt-wooden frame. The image of Britton at the ready is bright and strong, with a tolerable degree of light foxing and spotting within the print. On the back of the print in bold pencil is an itemizing of the colors in Britton's outfit (navy-blue, white, "American flag"). The only signature is "National N.Y." (the studio where the photo was taken?). A handsome, vintage boxing print, with beautiful hand-coloring skillfully applied.
