By Allen, Joseph
Boston: Benjamin H. Greene, 1836. Sixth edition. Very good.. Popular antebellum book of catechisms for children, written for the use of Sunday Schools. According to his introduction, Joseph Allen based his QUESTIONS on Harvey Fisk's UNION QUESTIONS, and supplemented it with various other materials in order to create a handy resource for Sunday Schools. A "Part 2" of QUESTIONS was published separately in the same year; OCLC records both parts individually. A scarce work institutionally and on the market. 12mo. 6'' x 3.75''. Original quarter blue cloth, paper pictorial boards. 118 pages, collated complete. Contemporary inscription to front pastedown, "Sabbath School, second Parish." Spine lightly sunned, boards with some edgewear; front board with very shallow crease (likely production error). Leaves uniformly lightly toned with scattered foxing; a bit of loss to margins of two leaves, not affecting text. A solid copy.
