Brief numerical notation on front wrap. Synopsis: Sam Streeter has sold Obadiah Martin a blind horse. Martin, a pillar of the Church and community, bides his time. He hears of "Slick" Dawson, a counterfeiter, and sees an opportunity to "repay" Sam. Martin knows that Sam will be arrested and that his, Martin's, reputation will clear him of any implication in the matter. As Sam is lead off to jail, Mrs. Martin and "Slick" realize the truthfulness of Sam's statement regarding Martin: "You're as counterfeit as them bills," yet neither dares disclose the truth. Martin sets the stage for his own downfall when he hides some of the counterfeit money in the Bible.
