By Wagner, Richard
London: H. Grevel, 1905. First Edition in English. Illustrated. lvii, 386, [2]pp. 1 vols. Three quarters crimson morocco and cloth, t.e.g., original covers bound in. Minor rubbing. First Edition in English. Illustrated. lvii, 386, [2]pp. 1 vols. Inscribed on the half-title:
"Lady Cunard / I send you the intimate life of a man of genius, written by himself during the year in which he wrote Tristan. Could I send you anything more interesting? I think not dear friend. Tonight we are going to hear his music you and I and Howard de Walden (8th Baron 1880-1946) George Moore July 5 1905."

A legend persists that the Irish writer George Moore (1852–1933), Lady Cunard's faithful friend from before her marriage, was actually Lady Cunard's daughter Nancy's father (see A. Frazier, George Moore, 2000). There is much to be said against this notion, though he always encouraged Nancy's writing and she later wrote a memoir of him.
